In the second match against Latvia, the Danes ran out of steam
After 5 hard matches, the last to go into double overtime, the Danes where to play Latvia again.
From the start of the game, it was a slow affair, none of the teams wanting to make mistakes. The Latvians seemed more dangerous, and got ahead by a few goals. The Latvian defence seemed strong, and again, a world class goalie kept taking whatever we could throw at him.
The game was interupted by a thunderstorm, and the match didnt start again for another hour and a half.
After the break, the danes looked a bit sharper, and scoring a few goals to make the match 4-3, Latvian favour.
The Danish team seemed to run alot to catch up to the strategic Latvians, who once again tried to spend as much time NOT playing lacrosse as possible. (Running around with the ball on offence, not doing anything) You really cant blame them for that, 'cause the strategy seems to be working. You can only be mad at the lack of courage to try and close the game.
Anyway, the Danish team got tired from running alot, and the coaches played a tight bench. Legs where getting weary, and lungs where dangerously close to collapse. We did have our chances to tie the game, but a mixture of bad finnishes, tough luck and a good Latvian Goalie won the math for them.
The final score was 5 - 3. |
