Goodbye training camp, hello world cup! - By Rasmus Bonde Stouby
See pictures from Detroit here

Easy breezy morning practice today, with an emphasis on defensive training. I am
finally beginning to understand my defensive duties. It is quite a relief to know
your responsibilities.

The intellectual stimuli of the day was a visit to the Ford museum "America's most
historic museum". I am not sure how you determine the "historicness" of something
but it was decent fun. I was actually there ten years ago, when I lived in Michigan
as an exchange student. Not much had changed. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is still
there and that of course is the most important exhibit. I had a 2-dollar wax print
made of it.

A few hours later I was standing on the
sideline in our second scrimmage game, considering the importance of a particular
Italian butt, when Martin Baadsgaard came storming off the field screaming "midi". I
attempted to snap out of my day dreaming and ran on to the field to play vigorous
defense which I was supposed to. Only ting is I did it on the offensive end. I didn't understand why everybody yelled at me so much when I was obviously covering this dude right in front of me. I got subbed out again after that...

Other than that we did well. We scored another four goals and let in less than 16 so
we definitely improved.

"You guys really surprised us," Justin Ronayne, one of our opponents who used to
play for Cortland, said after the match. "You had much better ball movement than
yesterday, hell, you probably hit the ball more than we did."

"Your defense slid faster and you communicated more. And your goalie is really
good!" Sean Leary a Maryland graduate in 2003 said. "I can't believe some of you
guys have only been playing for two-three years!"

Coach Cone mentioned Dave Toeg as our most improved player so far. Toeg is our
Canadian defenseman who learned how to play lacrosse in Denmark two years ago. He is
a big fellow and now he is also mean.

The game was covered by a journalist and a photographer from the Detroit Free Press
so our fame is impending, our stardom just around the corner. The lady at the
hallmark gift shop even asked for our autographs. I'm not sure she knows where
Denmark  even, but celebs are celebs and so we much willingly hand out our
signatures.

After our four pride sprints (one for each goal), Coach Dave
finished his post-game
speech with the words:

"Goodbye training camp, hello world Cup."

Tomorrow we leave Detroit and go to the world games.
